Email deliverability

Email deliverability is the rate at which sent emails reach the recipient's inbox rather than being routed to spam, blocked, or silently dropped; it is driven by sender reputation, authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC), list hygiene, and content signals.

What drives it

Deliverability comes down to whether mailbox providers trust you. The big levers are sender reputation (your sending history and complaint rate), authentication (SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records that prove you are who you claim), list hygiene (low bounces and no spam traps), and the content of the message itself.

Why it matters

A waitlist is only as valuable as your ability to reach it on launch day. If emails land in spam, the audience you spent months building never sees the announcement. Confirming addresses with double opt-in and blocking disposable email both protect deliverability.

Frequently asked questions

What deliverability rate is normal for a waitlist?
Healthy lists generally see the large majority of mail reach the inbox, but the exact rate depends on list quality, authentication, and sending practices rather than a fixed benchmark. Track your own inbox-placement and bounce rates over time instead of chasing a single target number.
Does sending from a custom domain improve deliverability?
It helps, because a custom domain lets you set up proper SPF, DKIM, and DMARC authentication and build your own sender reputation — provided you warm it up and keep the list clean. A misconfigured or brand-new domain can hurt rather than help.
