Emails & Notifications

Welcome emails, custom sender domain, broadcasts, deliverability, and exporting to MailerLite, Mailchimp, ConvertKit, and HubSpot.

Does LaunchList send a welcome email when someone signs up?

Yes — a welcome email is sent automatically the moment someone joins your waitlist, with their queue position, their personal referral link, and any reward copy you have configured. You can edit the subject line, sender name, and body from Waitlist → Settings → Emails.

The default template is intentionally simple and founder-voiced; many teams customize it within minutes. For copy ideas read Waitlist email templates that get opened.

Can I send waitlist emails from my own domain?

Yes. On paid plans you can configure a custom sender domain (e.g. [email protected]) so welcome emails come from your brand instead of LaunchList. You'll add three DNS records — SPF, DKIM, and a return-path CNAME — to authenticate the domain.

This dramatically improves deliverability and open rates because the From: address matches your brand and passes alignment checks. Step-by-step setup: Custom email domain docs.

Can I broadcast a launch email to my entire waitlist?

LaunchList sends transactional emails (welcome, verification, referral notifications) but does not include a built-in mass-broadcast / campaign tool. The recommended pattern is:

  1. Export your waitlist to CSV or XLSX, sorted by position.
  2. Import the list into your email tool of choice — MailerLite, Mailchimp, ConvertKit, Loops, Customer.io, Resend, or Beehiiv.
  3. Send the launch sequence from there with full segmentation, A/B testing, and analytics.

This separation is intentional: pre-launch capture and launch broadcasting are different jobs, and your existing email tool will outperform a built-in blast feature on deliverability and analytics.

How do I export my waitlist to Mailchimp, MailerLite, ConvertKit, or HubSpot?

Two paths:

  • CSV / XLSX export (manual): Waitlist → Submissions → Export. The file includes email, queue position, referral count, signup source, custom field values, and timestamps. Import it directly into Mailchimp, MailerLite, ConvertKit, HubSpot, Loops, Brevo, Customer.io, or any tool that accepts CSV.
  • Zapier (automatic): connect Zapier and trigger on New signup to add subscribers in real time, tag them, or fire a welcome sequence. This is the right move once you go live.

For raw control, use the webhook plugin and pipe signups into your own backend.

Can I customize the welcome email copy and design?

Yes. Open Waitlist → Settings → Emails and edit the subject, sender name, intro, body, and call-to-action. You can use merge variables for the recipient's name, position, referral link, and referral count.

For high-converting templates and the founder-voice patterns that consistently outperform corporate copy, read Waitlist email templates that get opened. The general rule: write like a person, not a brand. Plain text often beats heavy HTML for pre-launch lists.

Why are my LaunchList welcome emails going to spam?

Most spam-folder issues come down to one of three causes:

  1. No custom sender domain configured. Emails sent from the default LaunchList sender pass DKIM but lack the brand alignment Gmail and Outlook reward. Set up a custom sender domain — it's the single biggest fix.
  2. Spammy subject or body. Avoid all-caps, multiple exclamation marks, and mismatched links. Keep the welcome plain-text-style.
  3. The user's address is invalid or low-quality. Turn on email validation so disposable and undeliverable addresses are rejected at signup.

If issues persist, check your domain reputation at Google Postmaster Tools and reach out via support — we can help diagnose.

Do users get notified when their queue position changes?

By default, the live position is shown on the thank-you page and in the welcome email but is not pushed back out as a recurring email — that pattern tends to feel spammy on long pre-launch windows.

For milestone-based emails ("you cracked the top 100", "you're 7 friends away from access"), the cleanest path is to set up a Zapier automation triggered on referral count thresholds. We may add native milestone emails in the future — see the public roadmap.

Can I get a Slack notification when someone signs up?

Yes. Connect Slack from Waitlist → Plugins → Slack, choose a channel, and every signup posts a real-time message with the email, position, source, and referrer. Setup takes 30 seconds.

Many teams also pipe to a #launch channel during high-traffic moments (Product Hunt day, press hits) so the whole company sees the queue grow live. Step-by-step: Slack integration docs. For other tools, use Zapier or a webhook.
